Community Resource Mapping

First Day Zeemap

This is one image from a mapping project created by Whittier College students in a collaboratively-taught course that addresses children’s experiences in literacy and life. The course was organized around two themes: (1) Literacy, a human right, is essential for a democratic, economically and socially just society; and (2) Social workers are committed to creating and sustaining environments (physical, social, political, spiritual) that enhance the quality of life for children, families, and communities. This course was led by Paula Sheridan, Associate Professor of Social Work, and Kathy Ralph, Associate Professor of Education with assistance by Sonia Chaidez, Instructional Media Designer and Kathy Filatreau, Instructional Technologist.
